“For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.”
When God revealed himself to me, after seeking Him in prayer, almost 4 years ago, He told me “If you want to know who I AM, you must know who my Son is first.” And so I knew instantly that I had to read the bible & find out. So I went online looking for a bible & started reading the New Testament. I remained glued to my computer screen for hours each day, and this, for months. That is when I got born again (John 3:3-8).
When I read this verse; “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 10:18
And this one; “He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.” 1 John 5:12
I understood that without knowing & believing in Jesus, one could not know the one true God, (and thus, not be saved) and that is in essence, or exactly, what God had told me. Therefore, I immediately understood from the bible, that God confirms what He tells us or reveals to us with the Scripture. This was just an amazing revelation to me as a brand new convert.
And so when I read this passage;
“Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad. 57 Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham? 58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am”. John 8:56-58
And then discovered that God the Father calls himself “I AM” in the OT;
“And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.” -Exodus 3:14
I was even more amazed, because God indeed said to me “if you want to know who I AM, you must know who my Son is first” (He did not say “if you want to know me”). This is all I needed to know for sure that Jesus was and is indeed God! And that I had indeed heard from God himself! How humbling this was and utterly amazing that day was when I knew in my spirit that Jesus was God!!!
More plain Scriptures showing Jesus is God:
God in the Old Testament says;
“I am the FIRST, and I am the LAST; and beside me there is no God.” -Isaiah 44:6.
Jesus also says this in the NT (New Testament);
“17 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the FIRST and the LAST: 18 I am he that liveth, and WAS DEAD; and, behold, I AM ALIVE for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.” Revelation 1:17-18
This is clearly Jesus stating to be the FIRST & the LAST.
The bible is clear that only God can be worshipped and is worthy to be worshipped:
“Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him ONLY shalt thou serve.” Matthew 4:10, Deuteronomy 6:13).
< YET Jesus was worshipped! > Here are just a few scriptures:
“He answered and said, Who is he, Lord, that I might believe on him?
And Jesus said unto him, Thou hast both seen him, and it is he that talketh with thee. And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him.” John 9:38
“Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God.” Matthew 14:33
“And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him.” Matthew 28:9
“And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him.” Hebrews 1:6
Also, read this passage which is when Jesus appears to the disciples after His resurrection:
27 Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.
28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.
29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed. John 20:27-29
Thomas calls Jesus my Lord AND my GOD!
How much clearer can this really be? Jesus is in fact God and has always been God. He was not created but is the CREATOR of all things. A simple reading of the first chapter of John makes this fact crystal clear. Here are a few passages (please take the time to read John chapter 1 in full, and the whole book also, it will bless you.);
“1 In the beginning was [the Word], and the Word was with God, and the Word WAS God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
14 [And the Word was made flesh], and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.”
We see how the WORD, (Jesus), was with God in the beginning, AND Jesus was God! All THINGS were made by Him!!! And in verse 14; The word was made FLESH (human) and dwelt among us (on earth). And so yes, Jesus is God and He came down on earth in the form of a man, and was fully man and fully God, and humbled himself;
6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
“And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.” 1 Timothy 3:16
If you do not know God, seek Him like I did in sincere prayer and ask Him to reveal himself to you, read the King James bible. Most importantly, you must repent of your sins, turn away from them and forsake them.
“And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:” Acts 17:30.
Seek Him in humility, He is a merciful God who wants nobody to perish but that all should obtain salvation.
“Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:
Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.” Isaiah 55:6-7
“And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:13
You need to know that who you chose to serve in this life (whether sin or holiness & God), will assuredly determine where you will spend your eternity. “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6:23
“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.” Galatians 6:7-8.
This is what Jesus says;
“Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not.
Blessed is the man that heareth me (Jesus), watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors.
For whoso findeth me (Jesus) findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the Lord.
But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate me love death.” Proverbs 8:33-36
“For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”
Unbelief in who Jesus truly was and is, is a sin. If you do not believe that Jesus is the Son of God, and was God in the Flesh, and is God, you will not have eternal life;
“I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.” John 8:24
